Biceps Tendinitis in Tennis Players: Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention, and Return to Tennis

Biceps tendinitis is a common cause of pain at the front of the shoulder, particularly in athletes who perform repetitive overhead movements. For tennis players, serving, overhead smashes, and repeated shoulder rotation can place substantial stress on the long head of the biceps tendon.
The goal of treatment is not simply to make the pain disappear. A successful recovery should identify the cause of the overload, restore shoulder mobility and strength, improve movement mechanics when necessary, and gradually rebuild the player's ability to tolerate tennis-specific activity.
